Wow

Kaylee is officially wearing the same clothes that Mykenzie was wearing when Kaylee was born! Seriously time has gone by so fast. I can't believe that Kaylee will be 4 and Mykenzie will be EIGHT!!! Geeze I am old. My 10 year reunion is coming up in September. I don't think I am going but I am keeping the option open. Mykenzie will have a 3 day weekend the weekend of the reunion so it is possible. There aren't a ton of people I would want to see and I am not sure if those I would want to would actually go! lol Maybe though.

Thanks honey!

I decided that this is big news and deserves a blog post! Travis today decided to take it upon himself to wash the massive amount of dishes that accumulated over the weekend. This isn't as easy as it seems since our dishwasher still doesn't work, so they all had to be washed by hand!! Thank you Travis for doing that, I sooooo appreciate it. I love you!

Errrr, A Snow Day???

At the risk of looking like a moron to all of my neighbors, I braved the cold and snow to you bring you this picture of our snow storm that closed all of the schools in all of the surrounding counties. Mykenzie is thrilled for the day off! When I got up this morning to get her ready for school I noticed some snow on the neighbors roof through the window. But that was all there was none on the ground or roads. But alas they closed the schools anyhow. Now it is at least starting to cover more surfaces so it makes it a little worth wild. It is so strange living in the south sometimes.

Warning* Objects (such as snowflakes) may appear larger than they actually are

Enjoy, I almost broke my computer during the making of this post. But it is ok!

Bummer

As I went to bed last night I thought of an idea for a great blog post. I was so excited about it that I almost came downstairs and wrote it. I decided I was tired and it could till today. Do you think I have a clue what it was even about? Nope.

Today is a crappy day it is pouring down rain and is just gloomy out. On a positive note Kaylee hasn't thrown up since around 8 yesterday morning and is running around acting crazy and fine so she is going to school today. I have to return some jeans to Kohls and bring my secret valentine a little treat and then I am curling up on my couch and reading my book. Have a great gloomy day guys.

What's up?

I realized today that I haven't updated this blog about what the girls are up to these days and I think it is high time soooo

Mykenzie is still loving girl scouts and just got finshed with her cookie sales. She ended up selling 114 boxes this year. We decided not to go door to door in our neighborhood this time because it was too cold and too much of a hassle. We sold to family and friends instead so thank you all who bought. Now we are on the task of delivering all of them.

She seems to be enjoying going to school alot more lately. She still isn't getting the grades I think she deserves in Math but is doing well in everything else. She got an I for improving in Math. I think she does pretty well. The only time she ever gets anything wrong is when she isn't paying attention and doesn't read a story problem right or she just skips over it completely and forgets to go back to it. She comes home with math homework every night and she does it and I check it. If she got any wrong I explain how she has to do it and SURPRISE she gets it. I don't think her teacher teaches her in a way that she can understand. I am ready for this year to be over with I swear!! They are currently working on borrowing while subtracting 2 digit numbers. She brought it home on her homework 1 night and had no clue how to do it. I explained it and gave some examples and she had it that night. The next day I get a looooong drawn out explanation to how she teaches borrowing (now known as regrouping) Well mykenzie doesn't need to do it her way she can do it fine. Of course we get a note explaining how she teaches 1 of the things that she picks up in 2 minutes, but when I send in notes specifically asking her how she does something I get no response. Did I mention I am ready for this year to be over??

Mykenzie has struggled with reading in the past. I am sure it has something to do with my lack of patience and my frustration with it. She really hated reading though and acted like it was torture. I have noticed that she was reading more and more at bedtime but I thought it was just because she was avoiding going to sleep. Much to my surprise this morning she was laying in bed reading after she woke up. And at chapter book at that! Normally she wakes up about a half hour before I get up and she goes into the loft and watches cartoons. She kept reading it all through the morning and even said, mom I love chapeter books!!!! I am so glad that she is starting to find a love for books and reading.

We have been going to church for the past 5 months with some friends and where Kaylee has always loved going and is excited about it Mykenzie has not. She has had plenty of days where she hasn't come with us because she doesn't want to go. I am not going to force religion on her so I don't make her join us. Well the past 3 weeks she has been really excited about it. I didn't let her go a couple of Sundays ago because I wasn't going to go and last minute decided to go and didn't have enough time to get them ready and she was really mad. But yesterday the whole drive she was talking about how excited she was and she practically ran to get to her class. I don't have a clue what gave her this change of heart, she just keeps on surprising me. She is growing up so fast and changing and maturing everyday.

Kaylee woke up this morning and was sleepy and whiny until we came downstairs and I was getting them breakfast and she proceeded to throw up. I caught it just in time with the trash can. A few minutes ago I wasn't that lucky and she threw up all over the kitchen. I mean all over. So apparently she isn't going to be eating today. She only had 2 saltine crackers and a small glass of juice mixed with water. poor kiddo. She is laying on the couch with me watching cartoons now. She wants food so bad and can't understand why I wont feed her :(

She is doing really well at school. She has only had 3 yellow lights all year long and only 1 of those was once she got her new teacher who can actually handle a class of 3 year olds. I am so glad she got a new teacher!! She has learned so much! She can recognize her name. She can't spell it yet but knows it starts with a K and ends with 2 E's. She knows all of her letters and most of their sounds. She also knows her numbers. They are currently practicing tracing and cutting with scissors. She does really well with tracing. It took Mykenzie much longer to grasp the fine motor skills but Kaylee has them down pretty well. I haven't seen her use scissors yet so I don't know how well she is doing with that. I didn't know where our kid scissors were so we haven't done it at home but much to my dismay she found them on Saturday. Apparently they were in the pencil holder on the desk. She found them and proceeded to cut her hair. She didn't cut a ton but she cut some of her front pieces about chin length. She is frustrated with her bangs these days and doesn't want them any more so we were going to grow them out anyhow which means we would have had to get some layers put in her hair soon, she was just getting a head start! lol

She has a friend at school named Addison. They are so cute playing together, and she named her baby that she got for Christmas after her. I asked her the other day when we were getting ready for school if she wanted her hair in a pony tail and she said, "Um, no. Addison doesn't like ponytails" When we got to school that day Addison's mom told me that she had gotten up that morning and requested that her hair be done like Kaylee's! LOL 3 years old and they are already worried about impressing their friends with their hair! too funny I think that is the reason she wants to get rid of her bangs too, cause Addison doesn't have any! lol

Last night I read Kaylee her current favorite book, Dora Saves the Mermaid Kingdom. When we were done she took it over to Travis and asked him to read it. He told her he wasn't going to read the same book to go get a different one. Instead she sat beside him and said I will read it to you. He said, good I like that idea. She sat there for a second holding the book like she was going to start reading and then she looked at him and said "but dad, I don't know any of these words" Needless to say he ended up reading her the book. It was too funny. She knows how to work it.

That is it in a nutshell. They have really bad days where all they do is fight and get in trouble but then they have days where they play great together. Seems like they come in spurts but boy I sure hate the days they are fighting!! Overall they are both doing really well and are pretty good kids. I am a lucky girl

A letter to me

Watch this video then continue reading...

I keep hearing this song on the radio and I wonder what I would write in a letter to myself at 17. It was only 10.5 years ago for me but some things would have been helpful to know.....

To Jacy at 17
Your summer before your senior year will ROCK! So much fun, but the rest of the year till the end sucks. Don't hide from your feelings this summer, go for it or you will regret it come September. You will have a break down in Mr. Hardings class, get out of there a little sooner to save some embarassement. At some point you will feel the need to write a letter, if you have already ignored my advice about going for your feelings in the summer please push that feeling aside and DON'T write it. Seriously, you'll thank me for that. Don't quit your job at Kmart, I know you hate it but stick with it. That job will give you 2 beautiful girls one day, sooner than you think. There is a guy named Aaron you'll meet at work, he is nice and you are trying to avoid going to the prom with someone else, but these are NOT reasons to date him. He will eventually tell you that you are fat and he will lick your face alot. It is NASTY! and he is a selfish ass. Plus your husband one day will never let you live down the fact that you dated him. Nikki is a whore, everyone knows that, if you would like to keep the death threats at a minimum you should keep that to yourself and not tell her new boyfriend even if he has the right to know.

In 10 years you will have been married for 8 years with 2 kids, you are still thin but your body has changed ALOT and you would kill to have the thighs from when you were 17. ENJOY those thighs and flat belly they will be gone soon so shut up and stop saying you are fat, News Flash, size 3 is NOT fat!!

It is hard to imagine with all the drama and cliques at school but you will not know any of these people soon. high school is such a TINY part of your life. At the time you can't even imagine, but really listen to your mom it is true. You wont even remember half of the things that you think you will never forget.

Be nice to Aimee, she is your little sister and you are not being a very good big sister at all. She needs love from you not critisism. It could affect the outcome of her life. Give your mom a hug and tell her you love her and appreciate her. One day you will wish that the 2 of you were closer.

I wish you would try harder your senior year to learn as much as you can. Don't work so much and study a little harder. Go to college when you graduate, you can do it in another state (when that arises)and even when you have a baby. Get your degree ASAP otherwise you will be back in school at 30.

Always remember who your true friends are and they will remain with you always. Don't be so bitchy and just have fun with your boys and your girls.

Savannah will only be for a short time so hang in there. Columbia will bring you 2 wonderful friendships and Tennessee will bring in a whole slew of friends. When Jenna tries to get you to hang out, do it every chance you get, no excuses. Hug her now and then and when she wants to get margaritas, do it. Call her when you want, you are not bothering her and if you are she will tell you :) You carry stress in your neck and throat but don't find that out till many opportunities have passed you by. When you think it is strep or a virus it isn't, go to the hospital anyhow. Don't have any regrets.

You will be so happy when you get here. You have a great life and family and are very blessed. So much to look forward to.

Love, Jacy at 27

What would you write in a letter to yourself at 17??

Well it could be fixed

I have had 2 people come out and look at my dishwasher and microwave in the last week. The first guy ran the dishwasher and said, I think it needs a new motor. (It wasn't rinsing the dishes properly and had standing water in the bottom) The microwave turn table was making an awful noise, otherwise it worked fine. The 1st guy decided to let the microwave run with the turn table on for 3 minutes. Well it started sparking and going crazy and then lost all power. So guy #1 left and said we needed a new mircowave cause he didn't think it could be fixed now and my dishwasher needed a new motor. My warranty company called us the next day to give the report and he told them the same about the microwave but said that there was nothing wrong with the dishwasher!!!! GRRR! Then why sir do I have to hand wash my dishes??
The warranty company sends out guy #2 from a different company. He gets power to my microwave but is isn't heating so says it needs new sparks plugs and new turntable motor, if that doesn't work (but he is sure it will) then they will replace it. He actually got down on the floor and worked on the dishwasher and said it seemed to be working now so I have to run dishes through a few times to make sure it is. none dirty right now though. He even fixed the door which has been broken for a long time. It wouldn't catch it would just slam open to the floor. So hopefully the dishwasher really works and he can get the parts quickly for the microwave. I was really hoping to get a new dishwasher, no such luck

Just sad

I just have nothing to blog about. Normal people would just not blog at all but I am apparently not normal! lol I am tired of seeing the "What Jacy Means" post on the screen when I get on here so I am writing something, anything so I don't have to look at it anymore!

Today is Super Tuesday so if you live in one of the many states that had a primary today I hope you went out and voted. I am so glad I took advantage of early voting here! I hope that no one who reads this voted for Mike Huckabee,Cause I just have to say that he may be a bigger idiot than we already have in the Oval Office. I voted for Obama so fingers crossed that he wins! :) I just want this done and over with. Why is it that we have to drag elections out for so flipping long?!?!?

OK and here is something that is bothering me. Can someone PLEASE tell Taylor Swift that her new song called "Our Song" does not make sence!!! I really like the song but there is a line that says this "when we're on the phone and you talk real slow, cause it's late and your mama don't know" Seriously what is talking slow going to do? Soooo iiiiiffff yyyyoooouuuu taaaaalllllk rreeeaaaal ssslllooowwwwlly maaaayyybbeee yyyooouuuuurrrrr moooooommmmm wwwoooon'ttt hhhheeeaaaarrr yyyyoooouuu? Why oh why would she not say talk real low????? Travis of course thinks I am insane that I even noticed it but it drives me NUTS!

Ok I think I have written enough to bump the last post off the page. Aren't you glad you stopped by today to get your bits of useless rambling? Just think that is 5 minutes of your life you will never get back :)

Whew

All that serious talk and now I am exhausted! Thanks for all the responses and conversation that my question brought on. Now I am sorry to tell ya, we have to go back to the random pointless stuff. That is how I roll people. I don't have anything exciting to bring to you tonight, I know your shocked. This week is going by so slowly! It is my week of appointments this week. I got to go to the doctor yesterday, Cami had to go to the doctor today for shots and both girls go to the dentist tomorrow. That is alot for a girl with a horrible memory to have to remember. Add in a bday party and a meeting and whew! Thank goodness for calendars cause I would have forgotten all of them! I really need to try Ginko and see if that helps.

I am doing a secret valentine with my playgroup now. I am having so much fun with it. I am so lucky that I found this group before I moved here and had a bunch of people who were "friends" already. Life is good

Christianity vs Liberalism

Can these things go hand in hand? This is something that has been on my mind alot lately. I have always considered myself a Christian and for my adult life I have considered myself a Liberal. I happen to believe that Homosexuality is something that you are born feeling not something you choose. I believe that they should have rights same as Heterosexual people. They should be able to get married, adopt children and live their lives the way they choose without the judgement of others cast upon them.

I believe that women should have the right to choose. I believe that having an abortion is not a decision that anyone should take lightly. If my daughter at a young age by rape or because she made a mistake were to get pregnant I would encourage her to have an abortion. If when I am older and my kids are grown and moved away and I got pregnant I would consider having an abortion. I don't know if I would be able to go through with it myself but I am glad that I have that option. I know without a doubt if I were to find out I was pregnant and then that I had cancer I would abort (in early stages of pregnancy) and I would do what I had to do to stay alive for the children I already have. Period.

Now when I express these views to other people who believe themselves to be Christians I get a very negative response. Not everyone has to agree with my point of view that is fine, but to act like because I believe this way that it isn't possible for me to have a relationship with God and be saved and enter into the gates of Heaven one day astound me. Because I believe this way can I never set foot into Heaven? Can I not call myself a Christian? Will Jesus turn his back on me and say that because I did not follow his every word that I can never be saved because the blood that he shed on the cross is not for my sin because my beliefs are just too bad?

I don't want a debate about the sanctity of life, I know the other side of the argument, I used to believe it myself and then I became a mother. I don't want to hear that Gays will burn in Hell and that they chose that life.

I believe that God created everyone equally. I believe He is good and loves all people. And if he has a plan for all of us before we are born than what makes you think that his plan for that unborn baby was to be aborted to teach its parents some kind of a lesson about changing their lifestyle? And that the gay man really wasn't made by God to be Gay to teach us all about acceptance? If God has a plan for us can we really alter it so much that at the age of 9 you realize that you are Gay? What child would want that? And at 9years old can you really derail God's plan that much?

I have increasingly been feeling very down about myself and that my entire belief system had been rocked. I have been attending church for a few months now and where one week it lifts me up another week it brings me so far down. After talking to my preacher about my thoughts yesterday I feel a bit better. He still didn't make me feel like I could have these ideals. So instead I prayed and I asked God to help me see and to help me open my heart fully to Him and know whether I can be accepted into his arms. And you know what? I think the answer has been what I have believed all along. I am already there. Can I be a Christian? Absolutely. I believe in a loving accepting God, I will be in Heaven with Him one day. I may not be the best Christian out there but that doesn't change the fact that indeed I am one.

Please if you have never left me a comment now would be the time to do so. I would LOVE to hear what other people thought about this topic. Oh, and look at the top right there is a poll, please take a second to answer it.

A Lazy Day??

Hmm. Well a lazy day is just what I had in mind for today. I planned on doing nothing other than getting my DVR cleaned out and some laundry done (no clean clothes)and enjoy all of the peace and quiet that having both kids in school would bring. In my doing "nothing" I actually got quite a bit done.

*Balanced my checkbook and got bills ready to pay Friday
*Laundry is done (not put away but done)
*Dishes are done
*kitchen is clean
*living room is clean
*toy basket cleaned out and extra toys upstairs and put away
*Target run for some things on my list
*post office to finally mail a bday gift
*chat on the phone with a friend
*DVR cleaned out
*voted in the primary
*called my Aunt Shari and got her GS cookie order so I can get that ready to turn in tomorrow
*got the new Janet Evanovich book put on hold at the library
*talked to my MIL on the phone
*watched Sunday's sermon online since I had to miss church
*caught up on email and playgroup board
*updated blog

So my do nothing day was an accomplished day after all and yet I don't feel like I did a whole lot. I am tired but that is from last week staying up late. Now my back is killing me so I am really going to do nothing and relax and watch Biggest Loser.

I love Tennessee!!!!

I voted today for the upcoming democrat primary. Yes it won't officially take place till Super Tuesday but here in Tennessee we have early voting. I had never heard of this before I lived here and in the past have been to nervous to go. I already feel like my vote doesn't count living in a mostly republican state but I felt like early voting would really make it not count. Well after Travis called and told me I should go do it cause they weren't busy I decided to go after I picked Kaylee up from school. There was NO line at all!!! I was in and out in less than 5 minutes! How great is that! I will defiantly be early voting in the presidential election and any others that occur! Just think we are down to less than a year before George Bush is no longer in charge! WooHoo!! It can't happen soon enough, I just hope the right person gets the job and can get our country out of the toilet before it is too late.

Family Time :)

My mom, Aimee and Abby came for a visit this past week!! They came on the 13th and left the 20th. We had a really great visit, did alot of shopping, mostly window shopping and just hung out. We took the kids to CEC on Saturday and it was a madhouse but it was alot of fun. The kids had some fights over toys but overall had alot of fun playing together. Mykenzie and Kaylee love having their Aunt Aimee and Nanny here to play with them too. It was really great to see my mom! We haven't seen her in a year and a half so I am really glad she came. I hope we don't wait that long to get together again. We will be visiting the rest of the family for Easter, over the girls spring break from school. We are looking forward to visiting everyone else then :) Pics from the trip are on the other computer so they will be uploaded soon, I'd guess at some point tomorrow.

I need a swift kick in my butt

I can't get motivated at all to clean my house. I have people coming over Thursday, I am having playdate on Friday and my mom and sister are coming to visit on Sunday for a week. So all of these things should be motivating me but still I can't seem to do it. I am sleepy and I want to go to bed early. Maybe I will feel like doing it tomorrow while Kaylee is in school? The problem is that I start to clean and then I end up doing dumb things like cleaning out my junk drawer or organizing my sock drawer, seriously that is what I have accomplished. I need a maid. Or a good swift kick in the butt!

One down

I bought these file folders at Walmart the other day and finally put the girls school papers in them last night. I am hoping that they will hold all of their elementary school papers anyhow. They each have 19 pockets so they should depending on how much I actually keep. I can't seem to find where I put Mykenzie's 1st grade folder of school papers so I need to find that and add it to her file box still too but I am going to say that goes along with getting my house organized! lol I think that this is a good idea and a nice solution to the problem I was having. Plus the girls will be able to have them one day. My mom gave me all of my old papers but she did it when Mykenzie was 1 so I didn't appreciate it and threw them away. Now I wish I would have kept them so I could compare my stuff to my girls to see if we were at the same level. But they will have theirs to compare to their own childrens one day.
So I now have one thing crossed off my things to accomplish in 2008 list! Granted it was the easiest thing on my list. Still it is January 5th and I already have a check mark. I am pretty happy about it no matter how small it is :)

Girl Scout cookies! You know you want some!

Hey Everyone it is that time of year again already. I swear I just did this. Girl scout cookie orders are starting just in time for all those "I am going to lose weight" resolutions. They are $3.50 a box but you don't have to pay until they come in.

They got rid of the cafe cookies and the little brownie things they had last year

There are 2 new cookies this year.

One is called Lemon Chalet Cremes. Vanilla sandwich with a hint of cinnamon-ginger spice with a zesty lemon creme filling.

The other new one is a sugar free Chocolate Chip (they are pretty good we got to try them)

Then there are still the favorites from the past...

Trefoils (shortbread)

Do-Si-Dos (Peanut butter sandwich cookies)

Samoas (Carmel and coconut )

All Abouts (vanilla cookie with a fudge coating on the bottom)

Tagalongs (chocolate covered peanut butter cookies)

Thin Mints

If anyone is interested you can respond here or email me

Shhhh!

I don't want to say it to loud because I don't want to jinx it but I am going to go on a limb and say Kaylee is potty trained! I started putting her in panties last weekend and we have had a few accidents and she wasn't really going without being told to go try but as the week went on more and more she has been going when she needs to and she hasn't had an accident since around Monday. She has only been in a diaper at night and has stayed dry while out and about and at school!!!! I was beginning to think this day would never come but I think if I would have stuck her little butt in panties a long time ago it would have been done then. It is harder when you have 2 kids and especially since she is in school already to find the time to just stick them in panties and let them go.

We went to McDonalds Wednesday to play and she walked around to every table and pulled her panties up out of her pants and showed them to everyone. Pretty embarrassing but very funny too cause she was so proud. I am very proud of her too! It took longer than Mykenzie did but I am just so happy she finally got it! She is just a month shy of being three and a half, better late than never! Way to go Kaylee, Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you for being a big girl and using the potty!

2008!

It is already 2008! Seems like we were just hearing about all of the Y2K panic all over the news. This year Travis and I will celebrate being together for 10 years! Holy Moly! Mykenzie will turn 8 and my baby will turn 4! I will turn 28 *gulp*

So this year I have some resolutions but I am setting them as things that are actually realistic. Sure there are things about myself that I want to change, be more patient more positive ect but those aren't really things that you can cross off a list. So on that note my resolutions for 2008 are....

1. Copy all of my VHS home videos onto DVDs (we bought the DVD burner last Christmas and still haven't done it.

2. Get all of my pictures burned to cds off the computer, and keep up with it.

3. Get all of my pictures organized. They are laying all over my bedroom with all my scrapbook supplies. I want them all either scrapped or in photo albums.

4. Figure out a better system for my kids school papers. I am better about throwing stuff away but I still have a ton. My current folder situation is not working anymore.

5. Overall get my house more organized. I have alot of things done already but it takes me no time to junk it up again and then I have to do it again. I have to do Kaylee's closet (the keeper of all the clothes that don't fit) every 3 months.

6. Keeping with the picture/video theme, I want to get more of Kaylee on video. I have truly sucked with it. I probably have at least 1000 hours of Mykenzie and I probably have 10 of Kaylee. It is really really sad. More photos too. But of both girls. I seem to only take pics when it is a special occasion anymore I need some more candid shots.

7. Learn how to work my sewing machine. I am going to go pick out a seemingly simple pattern and learn how to make something with my sewing machine. I seriously have had that thing for long enough, it is time to blow the dust off of it and learn how to use it. I have 3 pairs of pants that need hemmed and one that needs a zipper replaced and I would love if I could do it myself. Don't worry I am not going to try, I will pay someone for that. I am gonna start small people!

Ok so there is my list of practical things to accomplish in 2008! Losing 15 pounds and getting fit would be nice too ;) But you'll notice that isn't on my list of practical things! lol Travis is starting his no more smoking quest starting today so wish him luck. Well really wish me and the girls luck cause it is gonna suck for us for a while. lol We want him with us for a long time though so I suppose listening to him bitch for a while is ok. As long as it isn't too long! lol

I hope all of you have a wonderful 2008 and that you accomplish all of your resolutions this year!!! Happy New Year!
