I may be giving up

On trying to cook that is. I swear, every time I try something new, something I actually follow a recipe for it turns out awful. I try and make things that friends recommend and have tried first even and it still comes out awful for me. I just can not cook. This week I will be attempting to fry fish. I have never done this before so it should be interesting. I am also making a recipe that the Publix lady was making last week that was really yummy. I took the card and walked all around that store searching for every ingredient, and there were a freaking lot, most of which I had never heard of so surely wont use again. I spent a ton of money buying everything that I need. If that and my fried fish do not turn out yummy, I am done. We will have pre-made frozen foods or stuff from a can. This is ridiculous. I mean really, I am a housewife you would think I would be a good cook. I generally have more luck throwing things into a pot and cooking them than I do following a recipe. Don't get me wrong now I have had luck throwing things into a pot maybe 3 times ever and could never repeat it. That just goes to show you how often I have recipe luck. Now if it is something desserty I can generally pull off a recipe, except cookies I still can't make a really good cookie, though not for the lack of trying. I need to find some other "homey" skill since I have yet to come across something that a stereotypical housewife is good at. Maybe I need to blow the dust off my sewing machine and give that a try, it was one of my new years resolutions after all.

First day of school

Kaylee had a great first day of school. She made some new friends and is so excited that Addison and Sailor are both in her class again. Other than those 2 there is only 1 little boy from last year, and 1 little girl that she knows. I was surprised to see how many new kids there were. It is good to mix it up and meet new people though so that is good. Her teachers are both very sweet and I think she is going to have a great year. When I got there to pick her up she was excited and was having a great time playing until I asked where her bow was. She ran to get it (off the floor in the play area) and a little boy stepped on her fingers. She lost it. I imagine it hurt but I think with her being up late last night and the excitement of the day wearing her out today she just couldn't control her emotions. She screamed and cried the rest of the time we were in the class, threw a fit in the hall because I wouldn't carry her and her backpack and cried all the way to the car. Then she was just grouchy and when I asked her questions about her day she would just pout and say, I can't talk about it. She napped for a little bit and woke up crying and cried for another 20 minutes. She is happy now but the girl is going to bed early tonight she had a long long day.
Her teacher told me that she had a great day with no problems at all and that she listened and played nicely all day. She has already warmed up to her teachers so that is awesome. I am so blessed to have kids that go to school so easily. Mykenzie I can tell is nervous when she first starts but she always has been and she has never thrown a fit when dropping her off. Kaylee couldn't care less. She asks a few questions like, are you staying with me (no), why?(because it isn't my school it's just for kids) when are you going to come get me (2:00) then is like ok, bye mom, I love you.

Looks like we are going to have a great year this time around because both girls have good teachers and are enjoying school this year! Yahoo!!

Nothing happening

Nothing much going on here. We are going to Kaylee's school tonight to meet her new teachers. We just found out one of her little friends (Avery) won't be in her class this year, so hopefully Addison and Sailor will be still. She is excited and can't wait for the big day tomorrow. And neither can I! I am going to lunch with friends to celebrate my freedom.

The girls have been getting along decently. Still fighting some but playing better together. The proof is all over the floor in my loft. OMG it is horrible! I took pictures, but I am not sharing them till I get it cleaned up. I am on mission search, sort, trash, give away. Today I got my downstairs toy basket done (there is currently only 1 thing in it and I may get rid of that too) and I got Kaylee's room done. I have a 1/4 of a bag of trash and an entire trash bag of stuff to get rid of. Next is Mykenzie's room and last will be the loft. I like to just pretend that room doesn't exist, it is that bad. It is amazing the mess 2 kids can make in a short amount of time.

Other than just getting through each day we haven't been up to much. I had the room meeting at Mykenzie's school last week and I still like her teacher. She is really sweet but will still be firm and I like that. I talked to her about some of my concerns for Mykenzie and she said she will keep an eye out and stay on top of her, so that is really good. Some of the parents I could do without though. Seems like quite a few know each other through church or something outside of school. One mom apparently appointed herself room mother (I personally think she believes she is also queen of the world) which is fine because while I am happy to help out I don't want that job. But what if someone else did? There are new students and moms who are also involved and may have wanted the job. Who the hell died and gave her that title? Just irritating. I hate when people think they are better than everyone else and look down their snooty little noses at people.

Like I said not much going on. I will post pics of Kaylee's first day of school tomorrow. After she gets home of course. I am not wasting those precious free hours blogging!

It's alive!

I put my phone back together and it is working again! I can upgrade in March so I am glad I can wait till then so I can get a new phone cheaper than I would have to pay if I got it now. I am kinda hoping that it's little swimming adventure will have fixed the other problems I was having with it! lol

Now I am sitting here waiting for the dishwasher repair man, so hopefully soon that will be fixed as well. It works, just is leaking so even if he can't fix it today at least it isn't out of commission again.

It is so nice out today, overcast and breezy. It is beginning to seem like fall, even though we are still getting temps in the 90's. I have my mulled cider candle burning and I am in the mood to go to the pumpkin patch. Still have a little over a month for that one though.

My plan after the Dishwasher dude leaves is to see if I can get the upholstery attachment on my carpet cleaner working again so we can scrub the carpets (especially the stairs) tonight. Everything else is getting fixed today hopefully that will too :)

Bummer

I dropped my phone into the bathtub today. It is dead. If I can't dry it out and resurrect it I will be purchasing a new one, until then the cell is out of commission

A tiny bit of light

My dishwasher is leaking. Yes, my new we just replaced it in March after going through a nightmarish time with our warranty company, dishwasher. We tried to figure out why it was leaking on our own and though we found where it is leaking we can figure out for the life of us how or why it is. So we did what any hillbilly who doesn't want to pay for yet another repair man, we put a bowl under it. I decided today that there was a slim possibility that it was under warranty and my search for my paperwork. Uh, yeah no clue where it is. BUT, I knew where my receipt was thanks to a little organization for my receipts. So I called Lowes where we bought it who connected me to someone who connected me to someone else and they said, it is defiantly under warranty and they are sending someone on Thursday to fix it!! Yay! And every person I spoke to was super nice and helpful. That NEVER happens! While it is a total pain that it is leaking to begin with at least it is still under warranty and it will be fixed this week! My guess is that parts will have to be ordered so it wont really be fixed this week but the process will start at least and best of all, I don't have to deal with my horrible home warranty company!!

Future Olympian?

While watching the women's track last night Kaylee looked at the tv and said, "I can do better than that mom!"

Never know.

Anyhow it is better than Mykenzie's dream when she was younger, if you remember the You gotta have a dream post from then. Where she wants to be our dry cleaner. She has moved on to a vet now thank goodness! lol

*Side note, Kaylee is still throwing up. I guess this time wasn't because of not eating and it is a virus. Not that I should be surprised by this since Mykenzie has started school. I swear she and Travis carry bugs into this house that Kaylee and I always seem to catch while they stay fine.

Great at the first impressions

Today we had our first play date with a girl from Kaylee's school and her mom and baby brother. We met them at the zoo and were planning on a fabulous day. We have been around them before at school and birthday parties but this was the first time we actually did something with just them. We made it through the macaws and the monkeys and into the building with the fish and reptiles. About half way through there Kaylee starting whining saying she wanted to go home. When we got back outside I asked her why and she said that her belly hurt. Well she had refused to eat breakfast that morning so I figured she was hungry so we went to the nearby tables and got out our picnic lunches and began to eat. Kaylee ate her go gurt and was sitting quietly. Then she wanted to sit on my lap and for me to feed her. I got her to take a bit of her sandwich and she immediately started throwing up! OMG! People were eating and she was throwing up right next to them. She was laughing and being silly after she calmed down and got cleaned up. Then she got real quiet again. This time we ran to a trash can but the urge left her and she didn't throw up again. So we gathered up our stuff and left. We were all really bummed that we had to cut the day short and hopefully we will be able to get together again soon. I don't know what her deal is with throwing up when she doesn't eat, it doesn't seem too normal to me. At least we know she isn't diabetic. Hopefully I am right and that was all it was and she doesn't have a virus that we have now exposed them to. She felt a little warm when we got home but when I took her temperature it was normal. And for the record she has seemed fine since we got home, she did take a nap in the car on the way too. She still hasn't eaten anything though so it is still too early to say.

Awesome!

Michael Phelps has now won his 8th GOLD medal in a single Olympic games! WOW! 23 years old and has 16 medals, 14 of them gold. These races were amazing, fun, exciting and nerve wracking, I screamed I cried and I smiled and cheered like a proud mama. I am sad that the swimming is done. I don't think I will dread the Olympics again. Awesome. Congratulations Michael on this incredible feat
After winning 7th gold by one one-hundredth of a SECOND

Who would have thought

I'd be screaming at the TV for swimming!!!! I never thought watching swimming could be so dang exciting but I can't get enough! I have always in the past dreaded the Olympics and honestly I was this year as well. After watching the opening ceremony I was hooked. Maybe it has to do with getting older? If Michael Phelps doesn't stop giving me a heart attack every night by cutting these races so close by the next one I will be a goner. Did you just see that race tonight?!? Holy Crap! He won his 7th gold medal of these games by one one-hundredth of a second! That is CRAZY! This after the 4x 100 relay! Good night nurse these games have been AMAZING! I <3 href="http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/player.html?assetid=0816_hd_swb_hl_l0673">Here is the race from tonight...

Watch the 4x100 relay if you haven't seen it!!! if you have watch it again, it was Awesome!

MENS 4X100 RELAY

The women's gymnastics have been fantastic as well (well except for the disappointing loss of the gold in the team competition, I feel so bad for them)And let's not forget the men's gymnastics bronze! Sasha Artemev’s pommel horse, wow!

Now we are starting track, we shall see if my enthusiasm continues.

First day of 3rd grade

Posted by Picasa

I can't take it any more!!!

I was trying really hard not to blog at all this week so that everyone who wanted/needed to read the post about my blog going PRIVATE in 3 days could see it and send me their email. But I can't take it anymore!! Mainly I just want to blog 2 things and they don't HAVE to be done now but I want to do them now.

Monday was Mykenzie's first day of school! She only had a half day but she had a good time. We have already gotten a news letter and she had homework last night! This teacher continues to make me happy! Just for the record the homework was just to fill out an about my favorite things kinda deal, nothing hard. A little girl in her class fell on the playground and broke her wrist or arm though. Poor thing, first full day of school. We haven't had any issues getting out the door on time. Afternoon carpool line is driving me nuts, surprise! Hopefully by next week people will realize that there are 2 lanes for a REASON! Above are a couple pics of Mykenize before the first day. She didn't want me to walk her in. I got dressed that day and everything just in case. :)

Today Kaylee wrote her name 3 times!!! I showed her how to do it a few days ago but today I was determined to get her to do it. I still had to talk her through but it is more of me saying "now what do you do", or "what's next" By the 3rd time she was over it but she still got it down for me. Obviously it looks like a 4 year old wrote it but she did good and I am proud.

That is all I had to say. Don't forget if you want to continue to read send me your email addy and I will add you when this thing goes private.

I changed my mind..

I have decided to make my blog private. I love that people like to read it but the more I see my site meter with places that I have never even heard of let alone know people who live there it makes me a little concerned. I realize I share alot of personal information on here and lets face it my kids are pretty cute. I prefer to keep them with me. There are alot of crazies out there! Sad but true. Plus my blog is linked from other friends blogs so who knows who is reading. Jenna has family and friends who read from time to time and I honestly have no problem with that. Anyhow the point is I will be making this blog private in about a week so if you want to continue reading please email me or respond on here with your email address and I will add you.

Sorry, cause I know it is a total PITA to log in to read a blog but at least you know it will be updated often so you wont be logging on for nothing. Let me rephrase it is still nothing, but it is NEW nothing ;)

My Scrap blog (NEW) is already private, if you want access to that one as well please let me know :)

WOO HOO!!!!

We went this afternoon to meet Mykenzie's new teacher and see her classroom. First off, she got my number 1 pick on my requests!!!!! YAY!!! Now, since I didn't know anyone with older children at this school I made my requests solely on their web pages! lol I know that isn't the best way to do it but it was all I had. Well, I was talking to a few other people and they all said they have heard wonderful things about this teacher!!! I am so relieved! I am sure you all are too cause now (well hopefully) you wont have to listen to me complain again all year! lol Also one of her little friends from 1st grade that I love cause she is so sweet is in her class and sits right next to her I am hoping this year will be 1000 times better than last year, though it won't be too hard to beat.

Oh and a side note, she came up to me and asked if I was Mykenzie's mom!!!! That's right folks this teacher saw that I was indeed a woman, not a man! Woo Hoo!!

More scrapbook stuff...

So here are some more of my layouts. I didn't even post all of them! I was going to post Mykenzie's school layouts as well but since there are already so many....

I am thinking of starting a blog to post future layouts that way I don't have to keep putting them on here but those of you who care can see them. Don't judge to harshly, I am just happy to be getting them done! Watch for a link to the right of the screen with a scrap blog in the very near future :)

Last Day

Today is our last day (weekends don't count) before school starts. It is a little sad to see summer end. I realized today that there were so many things I had planned to do that we just never got around to. We did have a good one though with lots of fun things and trips to fun places. It is just sad we didn't get around to everything I had hoped to. Time just goes by so quickly.

While I am sad that our lives are flying by I am also happy to have school start again. It is good for the girls and good for me too. I have such a long list of things that I want to get done the first few weeks they are back. My house has been let go this summer. Not that I have done nothing but it is no where near where it needs to be. I couldn't even shut my pantry door today cause it was so crammed full of stuff I had just been throwing in it. Same goes for about every closet and storage space in my house. Plus I have finally been kicking some serious butt on my scrapbooking this summer and I just think of all I can do with the girls at school!! I may be totally caught up by this time next year. Who knows maybe sooner, since I am just starting 2006 I am not going to set my goal too high! lol

Kaylee wont return until the 26th so it will just be she and I for awhile. I am sure she is going to be a bit irritated that Mykenzie is back and she still has to wait. She loves school! I was hoping to have her writing her name by the time school started but that doesn't seem like it is going to happen. She can do some of it but gets very frustrated. We still have a few weeks though so you never know. Mykenzie was about four and a half before she could do it.

Mykenzie did school work off and on during the summer but not nearly as much as I had planned for her to do. I am awful about following a schedule! I never used to be this way. I planned things out and followed it. Now we just fly by the seat of our pants and do what we want. It is a little strange. I am still uptight so I am not sure how I lost that part of me! lol I had this schedule for the girls, it literally lasted a week. I swear, I am such a good role model setting such wonderful examples. It was up, dressed, breakfast, chores (they each had a chore list) school work, lunch, outing, whatever. Yep. A week. That's it. It was a darn good schedule too. I wish I would have made myself (and them) stick to it. I am sure if I were working or in school I would be much more likely to follow one and have some time management but not working I think makes you much more lax.

The girls both had dentist appointments yesterday and both had great visits. I got the "I strongly suggest you get Mykenzie to an orthodontist" talk again. I was supposed to take her a year ago!! I SUCK! I swear I will make the appointment soon!! Kaylee had her 4 year check up today. She got 2 shots and took them like a pro. Her feet are peeling really badly and the Dr. thinks she may have strep in her system so they did a strep test but we wont know till Monday. She is also going to go ahead a schedule her with the cardiologist for another echo. I have been thinking about it alot lately and told her that I was concerned. She immediately said she would get her in so that was nice not to have to plead my case. She does still have a murmur so lets all pray that it is the kind that isn't a big deal. I'll keep ya posted.

We didn't get a chance to do anything fun today :( We had some back to school shopping to do and it took longer than I expected. We did eat lunch at Panera bread though and between shopping trips we stopped at Maggie Moo's for some ice cream :) Hopefully Sunday we will make it to the back to school bash downtown, the girls will love that, depends on how long it takes to meet her teacher that afternoon. Still crossing my fingers and toes she gets a good one this year!

Tomorrow Kaylee has her first birthday party that only she was invited to. Mykenzie gets to stay home with dad while Kaylee and I go to Sailor's party (a friend from school) She is so excited to go!! Then next Saturday she has another party to go to, this time it is Addison's (her BFF according to them) She is a popular little girl :) I wish they were all going to end up at the same elementary school but we all live in different school districts so that stinks, she will really miss them when school is over this year. The bday party Saturday is at a gymnastics studio that I was thinking of taking the girls so I will be able to check it out and get some info while I am there. Mykenzie would be thrilled if I signed her up!!

Can you hear me now?

When I blow dry Mykenzie and Kaylee's hair they both sing, loudly. It is like they think because they can't hear anything with the air blasting in their ears that no one can hear them either. I just find it funny that they both sing on the top of their lungs almost every time they get their hair dried, didn't want to forget that so I thought I ought to write it down.

Happy Birthday Kaylee

20 weeks left!

Can you even imagine that in 20weeks it will be Christmas!! That means only 10 more paychecks for most people! I have picked up a select few things so far but I am ready to get my butt in gear and start shopping for more. Yes, I already have my Christmas notebook started, I did that last week. I have a few ideas for some people which is nice. I am hoping to come up with a few more so that I can keep my eye out for clearance and sales. The countdown has offically begun in my house! Maybe I should decide what the girls are going to be for Halloween first. lol Nah!

Happy Birthday Kaylee!!

My baby girl is 4! My how time has flown by. She had her party on the 27th at Pump it Up with all of her friends and had a wonderful time playing with them. Thanks to all of you who came to help us celebrate!
Today we met a few friends at Chuck E Cheese for some fun playtime. She had fun playing for 3 hours!!! We went to Walmart afterwards to pick up a toy that she picked out from her Grandma and Aunt Angie. She got to come home and played with that for a while until Travis got home from work and she could dive into the rest of her gifts. He surprised us by coming home early and she was immediately asking to open them. She was excited about them all, but then again they were all My Little Pony toys or Littlest Pet Shop horses. I wasn't really worried about her not liking them. We had dinner and sang happy birthday and ate her strawberry cake that she requested. The girls played ponies and watched her new pony movie until bed time. Overall I would say she had a great day! And got enough ponies to keep her happy for quite awhile.

Last night while I was tucking her in I told her "Good night my little 3 year old. This will be the last time you are 3, when you wake up in the morning you will be 4 and will never be 3 again." She seemed to like the idea of never being 3 again as she repeated that with a big smile on her face. She is thrilled to be growing up and being a big girl. While I love alot of things that come with a child getting older (read, I don't have to change diapers anymore) I wish the process would slow down a little bit and let me keep my little girls for a while longer.

Happy Birthday sweet Kaylee. I love you so much, I can't wait to see what year 4 has in store for you!!

*Pictures to come later I have a horrible headache and need to go to sleep*

The countdown has begun!

School starts 1 week from today!!! OMG! The summer has flown by! I am beyond ready for school to start back up and whether she wants to admit it or not I think Mykenzie is too. She needs that structure and we just don't have it during the summer we just go with the flow and do what we feel like doing. We have had a fun summer but all good things must end. I just wish starting back to school meant the weather automatically cooled off some too. It is supposed to be 101 degrees today before the "heat index" (I hate the heat index aka feels like temp) so I have been told. That is NUTS! I am thinking of going to the county fair tomorrow for Kaylee's bday but it is just so darn hot! We may still go though, we'll see.

This week will be crazy for us. The girls both have a dentist appointment, Kaylee has her 4 year check up, hair cuts, back to school shopping (got bday shopping done yesterday), Kaylee's birthday ect. Plus I want to have some fun thrown in there too since it is Mykenzie's last week off.

I am so nervous to start another school year, as excited as I am for summer to be over. Last year we had such a horrible time and a horrible teacher. I am nervous about 3rd grade and all the homework it will bring. It just seems like once 3rd grade comes that is when the hard things to learn begin. I am just praying that we get a wonderful teacher this year and that things go much more smoothly so Mykenzie can enjoy her 3rd grade year. 3rd grade for me is the year where I have most of my memories start. I remember a very select few from the years prior to that but I remember alot about third grade and the years after that. If that ends up being the case for Mykenzie as well I want those memories to be good and happy ones. Cross your fingers for her.

***A quick update on Travis. The surgery went well, he was sore for a few days but is on the mend and back to work today. Now lets just all say a quick prayer that it actually worked and it wasn't all for nothing. I was about to kill him at times during this and I so don't want to go through it again, I am sure he doesn't either.

Finally!!!

For the past SEVERAL months, at least a month before school let out, my church has been doing a series that I am just not into. I went to church only 3 of those Sunday's because it was just not interesting to me at all. I just checked my pastor's blog and today was the LAST day! Yay!! Now I can go back to church! My kids will be so happy and I will be too, I always leave feeling good. Next Sunday 10:30 Church for me!
