My Girl Scouts

We had our long planned for, highly anticipated Girl Scout Bridging/ Awards Ceremony last night. We had 6 of my Brownies (including Mykenzie) and 2 Juniors bridging to the next level. It went so good and we have gotten several compliments on how good it was! yay!! My brownie girls have worked really hard this year and no matter how much I complain I really enjoyed having them (most of them) Next year I will only have 3 brownies down from 12!!! We had six bridge and 3 haven't been coming to meetings for some reason. One had to quit, one always drops out mid year for some reason and the other I am not sure where she went which only leaves me 3 girls unless we have new girls join. It is crazy. I don't know what I am going to do with only 3 girls! It will be like a walk in the park. They all did a really good job during the ceremony though so I am pretty happy with the whole thing. It is nice to see all of your hard work pay off. Kaylee got a few patches too and a future girl scout certificate :) She was thrilled to be involved in the ceremony, this was the first one she was allowed to participate in since she is only 4 and you can't be a registered scout till they are in kindergarten. Picture time.....

Beautiful Weekend

We have had beautiful weather here lately! It has been fabulous! We had a pretty low key nice weekend. Friday night I had 2 of the girl scout leaders over so we could plan our bridging ceremony and build a bridge for it. It went pretty smoothly and the bridge came out pretty cute I must say. It will be a very simple to the point but nice and sweet ceremony. I say that but we still have to practice it with the girls. Hopefully it goes as smoothly as we have planned. One of the leaders 2 girls spent the night. They are both really good kids so I wasn't worried, well not until she told me that the youngest (she is 6) has never spent the night with anyone before. It was all going well, I put them all to bed and they were all playing games, the 2 oldest had their DS' and the 2 younger girls had the leapster. They started to get a little loud but I did really think anything of it, as that is typically how little girls are. Next thing I know the oldest girl is crying and I hear "I wanna go home!" OH LORD. So I go up and talk to her and she is crying telling me it is too wild and she wants to sleep and blah blah blah. I tried to talk her into staying but she just kept crying saying she wanted to go home. So I had to call her mom. The youngest was like no way man this is my first sleepover and I am staying. She did great. Her mom was shocked that the oldest wanted to leave cause she has never done that at a sleepover. Turns out they were all dancing and acting silly and she got hot and tired and wanted to stop.... but she wanted everyone to stop NOW. And they didn't, so she got mad. At one point I had all 4 girls crying, she wanted to go home, Kaylee was crying cause she was getting blamed by Mykenzie of being crazy, the youngest was crying cause her sister was sad and Mykenzie was crying because she didn't want her friend to go home! OH MY GOD!! I could have been out drinking and hanging out with my friends! It was insane. So the oldest left, the youngest stayed, they were asleep not 10 minutes after the oldest left and they woke up and had a fun morning playing. I gave up alot of things for that and it sucked. Girls = Drama now you know why my blog is named what it is. How am I going to make it through the rest of my life?

The rest of our weekend went pretty well. I ran to the grocery store Saturday while Travis pressure washed the front of the house. We just hung out, played out side and the girls wanted to eat dinner outside so we did. Had some smores, yummy! And then Sunday was more of the same, church in the morning for us girls while Travis pressure washed the back of the house, some yard work, playing out side, dinner outside and smores :) Nice, easy and relaxing aka perfect.

We have had a really busy really fun day today! In fact I am too hyper to sleep and technically it is now tomorrow. We started out the day by going to McDonalds for lunch and playtime with Chandra and her kiddos and then ran across town for more playtime at the DC. Mykenzie has been begging to play with Ryan so she was so excited to hang out for a few hours. Then it was home to get cleaned up a bit and head back out the door to meet up with our girl scout troop and head into Nashville for our first Predators hockey game!

Kaylee was so excited and was cheering a lot for the blue team (Preds). She definitely wanted the blue team to win and not the red team (Columbus Blue Jackets). Much to her dismay the blue team was not winning for alot of the beginning of the game :( She was cheering one minute and I swear sleeping just 60seconds later. Crazy. Let me tell you it was LOUD! It was scout night and they sat us all in the same section... yeah it was loud. Poor kid was so tired, I didn't think she would fall asleep during the game though. The rest of us were wide awake as we watched the blue team grab the lead only to have it get tied up in the last few minutes of the game... what does this mean you ask? OH YES! OVERTIME! I swear I NEVER watch a game that does not end up in overtime, no matter what the sport... overtime, every time, never fails! LOL Overtime turned into a shoot out. (Didn't know what that was before tonight) For those who don't know still, each team takes turns. One player on the ice, he tries to hit in into the goal. 1 guy against the goalie. Then they swap. Each team gets 3 tries, the team that scores the most goals out of those 3 wins the game. Got it? lol

So the blue team gets to chose who goes first (home team advantage? I don't know) They let the red team go first.... nope they miss, blue team.... Miss, red team.. miss again, blue team... MISS, Red team, last chance.... MISS, Blue team, last chance SCORE!!!!! Preds WIN!!!! Yay!! Seriously, what a great game! We picked a good one to go to for our first one! Mykenzie loved it and wants to go back. Kaylee I am sure would like to go back as well, we just need to make sure she naps first. :) We will definitely go back as a family at some point and hopefully not have to sit in the nosebleeds next time! lol Bad choice of words I guess, I hope the dude that got smashed in the nose by the red teams high sticking is A OK now.

Happy Belated Valentines Day

We had a good Valentines Day here. Mykenzie and I headed to a cookie booth at noon to try and peddle cookies outside of Kmart. We ended up selling 96 boxes in 2 hours! Yay! Add that to the rest of the booths our troop did and we sold quite a bit in booth sales. I am almost done delivering cookies. I missed an opportunity to deliver some today but I will hook up with her another day this week. Still waiting on a couple of checks to come in the mail and then I will be headed to the post office to mail the rest to Ohio, Virginia and Arizona. Then I will be DONE with cookies for another year! Woohoo

After the cookie booth we met up with Travis and Kaylee and went out to lunch. Figured it would be less crowded at lunch time. Went to get Mykenzie a webkin for her v-day gift and came home, delivered the neighborhood cookies and then just relaxed. Travis got me a dozen roses and another bouquet of flowers :) Thanks babe.

Today was our group's secret Valentine reveal lunch. I got some pretty great things from my valentine and everything is something I will actually use and am happy to have (especially the jelly belly's ;-) ) I can't wait to go to Michael's to use my gift card!!! I love doing secret valentine with these ladies! After most of us went to see the Shopaholic movie. It was good but it was pretty loosely based on the book. I guess the main idea and the character names but that was about it. I was glad I got to see it regardless, I loved the books.

The rest of our week has been pretty busy. Mykenzie got her palate expander on Wednesday. That is a gigantic pain in the ass for me and a pain in the mouth for Mykenize. It doesn't seem to bother her unless I am trying to tighten it. We have to do it every single night. Hopefully it takes less time than they originally told me (3-4 months) cause I seriously after 4 nights of doing it am already done.

We had a family mystery night at Mykenzie's school on Thursday. It was fun but I have to say some of the clues were harder than I would have liked. Thank goodness I am not in school and can go ahead and look at other peoples papers to cheat! lol In the end we were able to solve the mystery though and all was well with the school :)

My house is a total disaster! I can't seem to get myself back into a routine after being sick for that week ( I have not missed a single dose of my medicine btw, big pat on the back for me!). I FINALLY have the last load of clothes in the dryer. This is the first time in 3 weeks laundry has been caught up. Of course now it starts all over again. My goals for this week are 1. get this house put back together 2. get a couple of work outs in. Hopefully I can make that work, since there is no school tomorrow I will be all thrown off again this week. Ahh well, cleaning isn't the most important thing right? You wouldn't agree with me if you saw my house right now...

Oh and in other news, I found out that I am going to be an aunt once again. My sister just found out she is expecting baby #2 and will be due sometime in October. I am hoping for a BOY this time!

I had a girl scout project planned out for last nights meeting. And by planned out I mean I knew for a month (probably 2) what we would be doing but the procrastinator that I am didn't have any of the stuff actually ready for the meeting. Fast forward to 4:30 yesterday afternoon just 1 hour before we have to leave for the meeting and see me scrambling around the house getting everything ready trying to make the things the girls would be making so they could see the final project ect. Then I realize that I never went and got those straws I have known for a month I would be needing for this project. DANG IT! So I decide that on the way to the meeting I am going to go through the McDonalds drive thru and convince them to give me the straws rather than me going in with both kids and teaching them to steal straws from McDonalds. Here is the conversation that took place at the pick up window.....

Me: Is there any way you would be willing to donate 20 straws for a project for a local girl scout troop or that I could just buy 20 straws from you?

Girl: Ummm. Let me go ask

The manager is right behind her so she turns around and has a 2 minute discussion with him right in front of the window rather that him just speaking to me directly all the while we are holding up the drive thru line at 5:45 pm..... you know fast food rush hour.

Girl: Yeah I just spoke to the manager and he said for us to be able to make a donation we would have to get in contact with our general manager and check with him.

Me: You have got to be kidding me! That is the craziest thing I have ever heard!

Girl with a sympathetic look: I'm sorry

Me: Look. I am not asking you for 20 boxes of straws I am simply asking you for 20 straws. In reality all I have to do is park my car walk in there and take 20 straws off of your counter or you could make my life easier and just hand me 20 straws. I mean come on it is 20 straws.

The manager is still standing there the whole time this conversation transpires. With a very distressed look on his face as though he felt as if his job could possibly be in jeopardy finally gets a bag and tells her to go ahead.

Seriously you would think I was asking for all the money in the cash register with the reaction I got over 20STRAWS!!!! Ey yi yi

Moral of the story. If you ever need McDonalds straws for something leave the kids at home and just walk in and take them off the counter. Yes I am telling you to steal. If it makes you happy leave them a quarter on the counter to cover enough for them to buy back those 20 plus an extra 1000! For petes sake!

Oh I forgot to tell everyone this

IF you plan on losing weight this year and don't want to have a zillion boxes of girl scout cookies laying around your house we have another option for you to still help out our troop. We are doing a gift of sharing program where you can order boxes of cookies for a troop chosen organization. This year we will be donating to St. Judes Childrens research hospital! So if you don't want to eat the cookies you can still order and help out our troop and bring smiles to the families and staff members at St. Judes!!! Everything works the same except you wont recieve the cookies you order and pay for.

We need to sell cookies! Seriously. Our troop does not collect dues it simply runs on fundraisers, now that I am a co-leader I know how important cookie sales are to our troop. If you want some cookies (don't forget they wont be in till Feb. long after the resolutions have been given up..lol) or you know someone who does please give them my number or give me a call. Wow time is flying! We are down to 4 days till Christmas now! All of the gifts are bought, the ones I needed to mail I mailed on Monday and Tuesday. We bought the fixin's for our Christmas dinner this morning. Everything right down the list is checked off. All that is left is the wrapping! Yikes! That will be fun. That will happen Christmas Eve after the girls are asleep though. I still need to get in the attic and locate their Christmas PJ's so I can get them wrapped before Christmas Eve. I have gotten gift cards from my sister and money from my BIL that I will go pick the girls some stuff with to open on Christmas Eve. Who knows when that will happen though since they are both out of school now.

Both the girls school parties went well. Kaylee had a typical party that was fun. Mykenzie had a Christmas brunch that we brought a ton of muffins for (and had a bunch left over). She got to have something fun everyday the whole week so she was loving going to school. Both girls made us gifts that are waiting under the tree for Christmas morning. I love getting school gifts! They are always my favorite things. I really love when they make ornaments especially cause they are fun to look at every year when we put them on the tree. I have no idea what they made this year but I am sure we will love them.

Tomorrow is our girl scouts party/ceremony. My first time being a part of a ceremony. I generally get an award at the end of each year, but this time I have a part in it, its different. We (all of the leaders) got together Friday night and it continued Saturday morning to make shirts for all the girls. They turned out really cute I must say. Took us over 6 hours to get them all done but I think that they will really like them. That is their Christmas gift from us leaders. We are excited that they will all have matching shirts for field trips now!

We tried to go to the live nativity at the church by our house last night but it started lightening so they had to pull everyone inside and we only got to see the animals. They had camels though so that was cool. Hopefully we will make it to Opryland hotel to see the lights. I wanted to go tonight but that doesn't seem like it is going to happen. Oh well. I am slowly changing my mind as I type and I think I may start wrapping gifts tonight. I guess I need to get off this blog and get busy making dinner so we can bake cookies and get the girls in bed early enough to start wrapping tonight.

17days, 5hours, 24minutes, 55seconds,54,53,52 ...

Less than 20 days now! When I started counting down on here there were still 20 weeks! I have a counter in the footer of this blog now and I love it. I did some gift wrapping the other night for those who live far away. Now to find boxes to ship the stuff in. Chandra gave me one today so that is 1 down, 4 more to go :) I ordered some thing online for the 2 dads and I haven't gotten them yet and am getting very impatient about it. I want to get the gifts mailed soon and I need those in order to do it. Plus I am waiting on a picture so I can finish up a craft project for my MIL so I can get her stuff in the mail.

It has been an unusually busy weekend, tis the season for that though. On Friday night we went to our church's Christmas program. It was good, very different then I expected for sure. Preached without being preachy. It confused poor Kaylee to no end though. It was 2 angels trying to get to the birth of Jesus and in doing so they went through different time periods. One was the Elvis era where they were all talking about the king coming (the angels thought is was THE King) but it was of course Elvis. So Kaylee leans over and says, "Mommy is that REALLY a King?" Then another part they were at some blue grass thing and they were singing about Santa coming on a train and going choo choo train is coming. So she was very confused at this point and and says "So mommy, does Santa really come on a train or does he come on a sleigh?" Poor kiddo so confused but very happy when they finally found baby Jesus.

Saturday morning started with us out the door around 9am to head to a local nursing home to do a craft with the residents with our Girl Scout troop. Started out really irritating because 2 of the other leaders weren't there, 1 we knew way in advance that she wouldn't be there, the other called at 9:25 when we were meeting at 9:30! Freaking ridiculous. We only had 6 girls total come which is kind of sad because 2 of them were my kids and 2 of them were the other leaders kids, we have 19 girls in our troop. We made stockings with them to hang on their doors and it was nice. It is a little hard to be around old people like that when you aren't used to it. There was one lady wheeling herself around and saying "help me help me! I am all alone, I don't know what to do. Where do I go? Someone help me." I have always want to live to an old age to see my children grow and their children ect. And all of the old people I have ever known in my life still had their minds when they passed away in their 80's. If I have my mind I am happy to be alive but really if I am wheeling around a nursing home saying help me help me I'm all alone, I really just prefer to go home and be with the Lord. Some couldn't lift their hands, most couldn't write it is just really sad. We will take the girls back in Feb. to do another craft with them. It is good for the girls to be involved and they all enjoyed it.

After the nursing home was done we came home and had lunch and I whipped up a batch of deviled eggs real quick. Then Barbara came and picked up Mykenzie to take her to the moms group annual Christmas party to see Santa. I took Kaylee to her friend Avery's birthday party. They both started at 2:45 which I found strange. I asked Kaylee if she would rather go see Santa or to Avery's party and it was no contest at all. She loves Avery! She had a great time at Bounce U with all of her friends from school and Mykenzie had fun at the Christmas Party. I enjoyed chatting with the moms at the party but I wanted to be at the Christmas Party. This is the first one I have missed since I have been here and I am a bit bummed. They both wrapped up at the same time and Chandra brought Kenzie home for me, where I made a quick dinner for the fam and was out the door to get groceries for the shower today. I sat on my butt for the rest of the night, well I boiled eggs and cut veggies but that was it. I cleaned for a bit today but then just enjoyed the shower. I will eventually put all my furniture back where it belongs but for now I am just playing online waiting for Desperate Housewives and Brother's and Sister's to come on. I am especially looking forward to B&S tonight! Sooooo good. Now that my busiest weekend of the month is over with and most of my shopping is completed I don't know what I am going to do with myself now. Ha! I lie I have plenty to do but things will definitely seem slower now that some major things are over with. Travis' work Christmas party is Saturday. I have never been to it with him before so it will be interesting and I am not all that excited about it but I am sure in the end it will be fine. I just need to stop stressing! lol
I actually have no set plans for this week,till the weekend. Wow! I need to call a few friends I keep telling I am going to call and don't. Duh! Oh and I just found out that my friend Amy is coming to visit after Christmas for a few days. It has been 2 years since I have seen her so I can't wait to catch up! The next day Amber will be coming with her kiddos so that will be really fun too. Don't you just love Christmas time!!!

Today and stuff

I am happy today, especially now that the sun is shining and the rain has gone away. My morning was AWFUL! Kaylee was a total brat having a fit first about not wanting to wear panties cause they go in her butt all the time (this is a new frequent battle) and then about not wanting to wear socks cause the "line hurts my toes!" This is also a recent battle, just in time for cold weather, joy. Once we got out the door things were fine. We went to the Discovery Center and met up with some friends for a playdate. We stayed till about noon and then ran over to the library and we each grabbed a few books (here's hoping I actually read the ones I got this time!) Mykenzie is FINALLY learning to enjoy books!! I was so worried that she would always hate to read and it would always feel like a chore to her, but lately I have seen a bit more excitement in her about reading! I am soooooo happy!

Then we came home for lunch and the off to Michael's to pick up a few Halloweeny crafts to do tomorrow for something to do. I have been fighting getting out the couple halloween decorations that we have but I may have to give in tomorrow. I am not a fan of the decorations I own so I wasn't going to put them out but I guess I just need to get over it and get them out, then at least we will have SOMETHING!

I have the girls Halloween costumes! Yay! They are both being the same thing this year which is a little strange for me but was my idea! lol They are both going to be Flapper's from the 20's :) We are working on a try-it (badge) in Girl Scouts called Through the Years where you learn about how people were in a different decade. We are going to incorporate it with our Juliet Gordon Low (the founder of Girl Scouts) birthday party which happens to be on Halloween. So since Brownies were founded in the 20's we chose that decade to learn about. So the girls are going to make the Flapper headbands at our next meeting (Monday) and make makeshift cheap versions of the Flapper dress. I decided that since we were doing this anyhow I would just buy my girls the Flapper Halloween costumes and kill 2 birds with one stone for them. Look at what they are gonna make at Girl Scouts though :) I am all proud and think they came about pretty cute for the amount of money spent, around $20 total for 17 girls. Not exactly a Flapper dress but you get the point with it. To buy the fringe you would typically use for it was $2something a yard (remember at least 17 girls) Instead the beading I bought I got for $2.75 total for about 10 yards!! Score!

Girl Scout camp!

We had a great time! We did a horse program where we got to groom horses which was really cool. I had a favorite horse who's name was Bonnie. She was so sweet. We went hiking and walked across a long swinging bridge. Camp was different this time because there were several cabins instead of one big one. I had five girls, of course the loud girls (well only 2 really) but it was fun. The cabins only had screened windows and door so it got COLD at night. I am glad we knew ahead of time that it was going to get into the 50's so Mykenzie and I at least brought warm clothes to wear, some of the girls only had shorts and tank tops though. Next time I will grab a couple extra sweat shirts or something in case it happens again. We didn't have any appliances this time, which was new to us. We had some trouble getting our fire started because it had been raining the day before and the wood was wet but we got it going and roasted hot dogs and made smores and it all worked out, just took a little longer than we would have liked. All in all it was a pretty good trip.

Busy Bee

That's me! I have been busting my hump trying to begin the long process of getting crap out of the way so that my entire upstairs can have carpet put in. I clearly did not think this whole thing through. From about 8:30 until 1 I was in my bedroom moving furniture to sweep up and clean out any junk that has been dropped under never to see the light of day again. Plus scrubbing baseboards, cleaning out and boxing up all decorative items not attached to the wall. I have no idea what to do with all this crap, I guess take it all down stairs but I can't do that yet cause I don't even know when they are coming to install it. So anyhow I waste my whole day in my room and closet going through stuff (ended up with a bag of trash, bag of good will crap and one of recycling! yikes!) all to walk downstairs and realize that the downstairs looks like a tornado went through and the dishwasher guy is coming for take 2 tomorrow! So I start cleaning up that. Pick Mykenzie up from school walk into Kaylee's room for something and clean out her closet while I am there, found a bag of stuff for Chandra, bag for trash and another for Once Upon a Child/Goodwill. So I basically have my room done (except my scrap area,reason why to come) and Kaylee's room is about done. Tomorrow hopefully the dishwasher doesn't take to long so I can hit up the loft and Mykenzie's room. I really just want to get most of it done so I don't have to worry about it anymore. I at least have to get the rooms to appear clean cause the carpet man is coming to measure on Friday!

Now the reason my scrap stuff has to stay. Well 1. cause I want it to. I don't know how long this process is going to take and to tell me I can't do something makes me want it even more! 2. and more importantly I am working on a project for my dad for his birthday. His 50th is this month! He is not looking forward to it at all. Hopefully he will like my creation (and that my grandma sends me some pictures so I can finish it) I will post pictures when I am done, well if it turns out ok ;)

We have girl scout camp on Saturday. Kaylee is so bummed that she can't go. A couple more years. Should be fun, we get to do the horse program (shh don't tell Kaylee) so it will be different and a good time. Must remember to charge camera battery!!

September's calendar is filling up so fast! I love having things to do as long as they don't cause me stress. Thankfully most things are fun. Kaylee's cardiologist appointment is next Wednesday though so I am quite a nervous wreck about that one! Prayers and fingers crossed. I am off to shower, 9:30 PM and I haven't done that today. I am sure anyone who comes in contact with me will appreciate me taking the time.
