Transformation Complete!

Ok.  Well it isn't totally done.  I still have to make curtains, but I have the fabric.  Since I can't sew I am hoping my mudder will make my curtains for me while she is visiting next month ;)  This project has been on my mind officially for a year and a half.  I have wanted to do it and have been talking about it now for what seems like forever.  It was a lot of work.  It caused great frustration due to the fact that my walls are apparently not straight (thank you Old South).  It isn't perfect but I love it!  It makes me happy.  It makes me *ALMOST* like doing my laundry.  That's right folks my laundry room re-do is done!!!

Soooo.  What did we do?

1.  Awhile back we replaced our washer and dryer.  At that time we ripped the old wire shelf out and repainted the room grey and took the door off.

2.  As we finally started this project up again we started by hanging 2 cabinets that we bought at lowes raw and painted black.

3.  Mod Podged Scrapbook paper to the inside of cabinets.

3.  We hung 2 shelves in between the 2 cabinets

4.  We built a cabinet to go beside by dryer with hanging bars for clothes.

5.  Finished the top of the cabinets with crown to pull them all together.

6.  Added a chandelier

7.  Built a drying rack to hang on the wall.

8.  Made a bin for missing socks...

9.  Embellish a cute tray and add some decor to shelving (including some cute clothespins from Embellished Living )  I still have things in mind for the top of the cabinets but have more important things I need to purchase currently.

10.  Turned what used to look like this....

Into BLISS!

**not a huge fan of the thing under the window....  it is either coming down or getting painted blue or white.  The curtains will be the same material as seen above on the tray.

Lots of Changes

Both big and small changes are happening in our home currently... I am officially in school. My first day was Monday and I go back tomorrow. People keep asking how it was and I don't really know what to say other than school is school. It is something that I have to do so I am going to get it done. I don't think it will be as bad as I thought however I am still nervous and I am still a bit freaked about having to do speeches. I think that the next 15 weeks are going to fly by though as well.

Now for some of the changes you can actually see. I mentioned in my last post I was in the middle of moving things around in my kitchen closets... Well after a LOT of hard work I did it. It is done and it is dang cute if I do say so myself. Most importantly though it is such a WONDERFUL use of space!

This is my small closet sized pantry before the redo....
And now it is a coat closet.....
This is my closet before (ish) I forgot to take a photo with all the crap in here. Picture one of those ugly wire shelves with all those coats (plus several more that got moved to the yard sale) with a bunch of crap piled on top of the shelf and a ton of craft stuff, playdoh ect all over the floor of it. You can see where I had to re-mud and tape and deal with electrical in this photo though.
And now...

Just call me Rainbow Bright!

No one can ever say that I am afraid of color that is for sure! My house is now a rainbow. I am thinking the only color I don't have represented is blue.... maybe the garage can be painted blue that would be cute! For those who have never been to my house, my bedroom is a yellow gold, my master bath is sage green, Mykenzie's room is pink & Kaylee's room is purple (lavender). Last year around this time we painted the girls bathroom a bright orange (you can click here for a reminder). Our loft was red when we moved in and while we repainted it because they did a terrible job but we kept it red. Downstairs our living room is brown our kitchen is purple (Plum) and now our half bath is BRIGHT green! Now I must say that it is MUCH brighter than the swatch I have is but it works out because I love it anyhow! So now 2/3 of the bathrooms in my house blind you when you walk in! LOL That is what Travis says anyhow. I personally love it so I don't really care. I really hope that when we decide not to live here any more the person buying likes color too cause I will be damned if I am repainting over any of it!! I still have some accessories in mind to add but here are some photos :)

Giving into the decorating bug

I have tackled some projects this week since the decorating bug bit me. I gotta say my living room finally feels pulled together. (Of course, since Travis wants to paint it, I won't allow it now though) I still have 1 more table to purchase but I am looking for the right one (for cheap) to put by my front door. Can't wait for garage sale season!!! I already posted all the deals I bought on Tuesday so those are in my living room, well some are. I also bought a gigantic red plate for my mantle that I jazzed up a bit (I talk about that in a minute). I painted the half circle table between my kitchen and dining rooms black and it looks much better!

I purchased the Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) program for my cricut on Wednesday night and it freaking rocks! I made a big "B" for on my gigantic mantle plate and added some other things in my house. I must say that I am dangerously close to having words on EVERY wall in every room of my house! It is addictive!!

I also bought a few new storage totes to help me get some things lacking organization organized. I will say that I have gotten some of that stuff done but still have to complete that project.

Next on my agenda.... ha! what's not.

*I have plans for my loft but I need a LOT of cash for that room because it involves buying a new 50inch plasma so that has been bumped to the bottom of the totem pole since we just re-carpeted out entire upstairs.

*Mykenzie's room needs repainted and her things need put back on her wall. I just don't like the set up in there right now, and she wants stripes on her wall. I have never done that so I don't know if I am capable to do it as I can't make straight lines to save my life.

*Kaylee's room needs upgraded from babyish to little kid. I don't have any kind of a plan for what I am going to do yet but I am thinking that wainscoting will be involved :)

*I am DYING to redo my laundry room! That is going to require garage sales though cause I can't spend alot on things for a laundry room, I just can't bring myself to do it. But I have a specific idea in mind so I may have to! lol

*My downstairs bathroom needs a serious face lift as well.

I guess I should have just said I have plans for every single room in my house, except the living room and the girls bathroom cause that would have summed it up much better! lol Sorry to all of you actually reading this! So many plans so little budget.

Here are a few photos :)

The wall between my window and front door... so much better!

Deals Deals Deals!

Lately I have been out shopping for some great deals. That is the best part about this time of year after all. Now that Christmas is done and it is a long way to spring. How else are we supposed to pass the long cold winter days? Here are some that I have picked up recently, mostly today though. (You can click all the photos to see better)

Hobby Lobby is having a big sale. I love when I can utter those words. I got the above for $6.80! It is darker than the pic shows, love that flash. Looks cute sitting on an end table in my living room

I got this one for $6.12! Soon I will have too much to put on all of my new(ish) tables in my house!

I didn't know if I would like this or not. Still haven't decided. I got it at Marshalls ($12). I will be going back to Hobby Lobby to get the flowers I saw and wanted to put in it on Thursday. Hopefully it all works when done.

These baby's were only $7 each. They replaced some very disliked pics in my living room. Though I like it better, the wall is still missing something so the search continues ;)

Deals cont.

I guess most people wouldn't consider $2.50 a good deal for potted sticks but I love it!

My $1.50 letter B!! I am so in love and becoming slightly obsessed

I know it doesn't look like much now but soon it will bloom and be lovely. And for $2.24 who could pass that up!

Under Construction

Ha! This is the state of my house right now! The first two pictures are of my dining room, if you look really close you can see the table. The last picture is of my loft as seen from down stairs. You cant get into the room at all, it is blocked my mattresses so no picture of the actual room. However every piece of furniture from the bedrooms is in there. My carpet better look awesome cause this is a horrible nightmare.
*Kaylee Update* She woke up this morning with a headache but her eye isn't too swollen. She doesn't seem to be traumatized by last nights events and Mykenzie has gotten over being upset too. They were back to their normal selves this morning fighting at 6:30 am.

Long Labor Day Weekend/Making Plans

We managed to do a few fun things for the girls and a fun thing for us this weekend. Yesterday we went to the pool, played out side and made snow cones for the girls. Today we went to Home Depot and ordered carpet for our entire upstairs for us!! Yay!! We have builders carpet in the entire upstairs (hardwood all downstairs for those who have never been here) and it is crap! The house is 6 years old now so you can imagine. The only place I really care about is the steps, oh they are soooo bad! They are nasty in a week of cleaning because the dirt is so down in there and the carpet is crap. I don't know what got into Travis but he decided to go buy carpet today, we haven't talked about getting new carpet for quite some time now. I have learned to jump on stuff when he is in the mood! lol They will be coming to measure on Friday at some point and hopefully start installing next week!! Yay!

I have all these new big plans for my loft. The plan at income tax time was to move our plasma upstairs along with all of the game systems and get a new tv downstairs. This way I can have the tv when T gets home from work and wants to sit and game all flipping night. So we are getting rid of all of the furniture up their. For now we will be keeping the love seat and purchasing a black slip cover for it. The armorie (that I hate) will be painted black (this works out wonderfully that we are getting new carpet cause now it won't matter if I get paint on the carpet!) We will be purchasing a new desk (if we move the one we have it will fall apart, no joking, can we say blue light special?) and hopefully a flat monitor (we have a dinosaur monitor) I am putting new pics on the wall and we will be doing a whole black, white and red theme! I am super excited about it! I don't have a clue why I haven't thought of this in the past. About a year ago I was talking about loving those colors together but could only think of how to do it in the kitchen! MORON! My Loft is painted RED! We want to get either a new couch or a couple of chairs (think black club chairs) but those will come later, I still don't have my end table for my living room for pete's sake! I am in the mood to shop and accessorize my house! I was telling that to Travis today and he was like, what do you want to buy, where do you want to go and I didn't have answers to those questions! I just want to buy stuff! lol
This is starting early this year, I usually don't catch this bug until the end of October thru February. So many things to buy, with so little budget. I guess I should check out good will for some good deals and refab some stuff myself. I have been looking at too many crafty blogs these days. Wish me luck ya'll, I am gonna need it!
